Hello everyone, Ebisu Seiji here. Thank you very much for picking up volume 8.5 of ‘Ore Ga Suki Nano Wa Imouto Dakedo Imouto Janai’.
As you might have guessed, this novel is a collection of short stories that didn’t make it into the main series. Just like with volume 7.5, these were short stories released in the Dragon Magazine, and now properly gathered here, but they are slightly different from before. In 7.5, these short stories ended up still as a connected story.
On the other hand, this 8.5 volume is made up of short side stories which were released in Dragon Magazine after the release of volume 1. I felt a strong sense of nostalgia while reading through these stories again, and at the same time I felt gratitude for all the people who’ve helped me make it this far.
And to go into a bit more detail about these short stories, they are mostly made up of short events that didn’t make it into the main series, and naturally quite a few more lovey-dovey events. Although they’re not all that different from the main series, I do feel like they show a slightly different side of Yuu, Suzuka, Double Peace-sensei, and the others.
This volume also has some new short stories that weren’t released before in the Dragon Magazine, so I’m sure that both new readers and older readers will enjoy this volume. Naturally, I want to thank my illustrator Gintarou-sensei for all the cute, supreme illustrations he has blessed us with this time around.
On another note, I want to say that I did not expect that I would write another short story volume like this. I was really surprised when the publisher called me to say ‘We’re releasing 8.5’, so much so that I asked them ‘Are you serious?’ out of surprise.
That being said, the fact that we could release this volume shows that the support for the main series is still going strong, and it fills me with nothing but joy. In order to respond to this wonderful support, I will work even harder from now on.
At this point, I also want to apologize to the publisher for the long break in volumes, but I can guarantee that it will all be worth it for the 9th installment that will be coming soon.
And here’s hoping that we can meet each other again in the next afterword—
